SURFACE PHYSICS
Research within physics of surface physics includes experimental and theoretical investigations.

Main domains of research include:

Investigations of structural and electronic properties of clean surfaces, ultra thin films and assisted nanostructures.
Investigations of effects of electronic confinement in small metal particles and low dimension systems – quantum well states.
Structure and electronic properties of stepped (vicinal) surfaces and nanostructures built on them.
Structural and electronic properties of graphene on well defined surfaces.

Theoretical investigations are focused on:

Dynamics of electronic excitations on femtosecond time scale.
Dynamics of atomic and molecular degrees of freedom in nanosystems.
Interactions between excited degrees of freedom in nanosystems and decoherence of nanosystems quantum states caused by intrinsic interactions or interactions with neighbourhood.
