New project at our Institute

Dr. Hrvoje Skenderović is the leader of the international project Biological and Bioinspired Structures for Multispectral Surveillance funded by the NATO-Science for Peace and Security Program. The project will last for three years and will be co-authored by Dr. Nazif Demoli, Dr. Mario Rakić, Dr. Jadranko Gladić, M.Sc. Denis Abramović and M.Sc. Mateo Forjan and colleagues from the Belgrade Institute of Physics.

The project runs from 15.10. 2019 – 10/15/2022 and takes place in collaboration with colleagues from the Institute of Physics, Belgrade, led by Dr. Dejan Pantelić.

The project is inspired by micron lamellae in butterfly wings. Due to the illumination of such structures, electromagnetic radiation deviates from the equilibrium positions, which are enhanced by the thermophoresis of the surrounding gas. The deflections can be registered by the holographic method and used for imaging of the incident radiation. The aim of the project is to create a multispectral camera based on a network of microlamels and holographic reading, which will contribute to peace and security.
